Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an activist and leader of the Civil Rights Movement. The 2024-2025 Cudahy MLK Art & Essay Contest invites students to reflect on the life, lessons, and powerful words of this inspiring leader. Cudahy students are encouraged to incorporate the theme into their submission or create a piece that represents the life and legacy of Dr. King overall. Eligibility: The Dr. MLK Jr. Essay & Art Contest is open to all students in the School District of Cudahy Contest Guidelines: Winners will be selected at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Essays: Individual essays will be accepted. Essays can be typed or handwritten neatly. Art: All art forms are welcome, including drawing, photography, painting, poetry, sculpture, spoken word, videography, and more. Individual and group art submissions will be accepted. Submission: All contest submissions should be delivered to your school or the district office by Tuesday, January 13th by 4:00 PM. Please make sure that the student’s name, grade, and school is located on or attached to the submitted piece. Digital submissions ( ex: videos, digital art, typed essays, etc.) can be submitted by clicking this link, https://forms.gle/sSUMpJ4795cRyjd39 Winners & Recognition: Submissions will be evaluated based on theme, quality, creativity, and originality. Contest winners will be notified by Friday, January 18th. Winners will be invited to a recognition event at the Cudahy Family Library on Saturday, January 25th where they will receive a certificate of achievement and the opportunity to view the other winning submissions. On Friday, December 13th, the CHS Orchestra Strings went on a holiday tour! 🎼 They started the day performing holiday songs at the Hales Corners Care Center, then traveled to Southridge Mall, and ended the day at the Kelly Senior Center in Cudahy. CHS German Teacher Herr Dahlberg and his students had the opportunity to participate in a seminar exploring how it feels to be a POC in Germany at the Goethe Institut. Later, students explored the largest Christkindl Market outside of Europe at Chicago's Daley Plaza. All had a great time despite the cold temperatures! #cudahypride
